Introduction

David and I met during college in our ballroom dance class. If you ask us the details of how we met our stories are different, but the end of the story is the same. We got married in 2012 and started our life journey together. Our first couple years of marriage were not easy. We had many trials that tested us to our limits. Our ability to stick together is what helped us make it through.

Despite the trials, Christmas 2013 was an extra happy day for us because we found out we were pregnant. We began talking about plans for our future with this new addition to our life, but unfortunately we lost the baby several months later.

We were devastated. And despite what people told me, I began to blame myself for the miscarriage. A couple years later, I finally felt ready to talk to my doctor about giving pregnancy another shot.

We went into the doctor for a pregnancy planning appointment only to find out that it might not be an option for us at this time. We were aware of non-life threatening condition I have called Thrombocytopenia, and we knew it could effect pregnancy, but we were unaware of how much.

It turned out carrying a baby to full term and then bearing that child would be incredibly high risk for me. Making it to that point in a pregnancy would be very dangerous. After a lot of discussion together and with our families, we decided isn’t worth my health or my life to have a child biologically.

We turned to adoption, and since then we have felt a lot of peace. It is something we discussed with each other before we were even married and it is something we always knew we wanted to look into one day. We have learned so much and we are so excited about it.

For David and I, it doesn’t matter how our child becomes a part of our family; we are just so excited to find our family’s missing piece.
