3 Years Down, Many More to Come

Dear Baby,

Today daddy and I are celebrating three years of marriage. I can’t believe it has been that long since I knelt with him to be sealed for time and all eternity. We have grown so much, and matured,  and learned more about love and family than I ever could have imagined. On our wedding day I never would have guessed that in three years we would have adoption papers in, a home study done and we would be waiting for our missing piece. In fact, I don’t think I even knew what a home study was!

I got to hold a baby girl last night. It made me even more excited for the months to come. I am so excited to meet you and hold you, and to meet the selfless woman who is carrying you. That is the best part of adoption; there are so many people involved in your life, even before you are born. There are so many who already love you and care about you and want you to have the best life you can possibly have. More than anything, I look forward to giving you that.

I married a wonderful man. Do you want to know how I knew he was the right one? I knew he would be an amazing daddy. He is patient, loving and a peacemaker. What better attributes could you ask for in a dad? Just as I made the right decision marrying him, I know we are making the right decision to adopt and we will be blessed to find the child who is meant to be part of our family.

Here’s to year number three! A year from today I hope and pray we look back on this year with you in our arms.
