You Have Many Names

Dear Baby,

You have a name! It’s Ronan James Archibald (or RJ). You actually have many names. Birth Mom calls you Layne and Grandpa Barrow nicknamed you Tarzan because of the giant hand you were showing off in the ultrasound (not to mention all the kicking and wiggling you do). Leave it to Grandpa to give you a nickname before you are even born.

We had our first conference call with Meghan and her fiance the other day. The only word I can use to describe it is “magical.” Meghan and I hit it off right away and talked forever. The boys didn’t talk to much, but that’s boys for ya.

Meghan and I have become close so quickly. I feel like Heavenly Father and fate worked together to bring us close. It is so unexpected and amazing to share something so precious with another woman. I wouldn’t trade this path for anything.

You are coming into this world with so many arms of love open and waiting for you. I love the adoption symbol. It is a triangle intertwined with a heart. The three corners of the triangle represent the child, the adoptive couple and the birth parents. And they are all surrounding and intertwining the child with love. That is so accurate about our situation. We love you and so we sought you out. Your birth parents love you and so they sought us out. And I can’t even begin to name all the family and friends who have been involved and who have been praying for you already. You are so fortunate to be loved by so many. And we are so fortunate to be your parents.

Goodnight my baby boy.

Love always,

Mommy
